Tavon Austin, Value Play?

I know, I know, I know. For what feels like a decade, we’ve all salivated over the potential of Tavon Austin and his athletic ability. We’ve even seen it come into play in the NFL where he runs past defenders like they’re stuck in the mud and every time you think he’s ready to break out, he has another inconsistent season. Things might be different this time around though. If anyone has been watching the 2016 season of Hard Knocks you would know he is a key foundation piece for the Rams and the #2 offensive weapon behind Todd Gurley. Case in point the financial investment the Rams recently showed in Austin with extending him for 4 yrs, 42 million dollars.

Austin has more experience than ever (obviously) and is now one of the veteran receivers on the team. He’s an experienced playmaker who can score from anywhere on the field. Literally. He’s coming off his best season ever in which he set career highs in receiving and rushing as well as touchdowns. In fact, he scored 10 touchdowns in 2015 — not too shabby. Did I mention that he returns kicks and punts, too? In leagues that count return yards and give all position players credit for rushing yards we really like Tavon Austin’s upside. Rams coaches have said that he’ll be an even bigger part of the offense in 2016. While everyone else writes him off as another “should-have-been”, take a flier on Tavon Austin. He’s proven that he has the talent to play in the league and it sounds like he’s only going to get more touches — that’s a formula for success.
