Week 7 Pickup Recommendations
RB Dion Lewis / James White NE Dion Lewis is expected to start practicing again this week, and could be factor in the coming weeks as his skill set is heavily utilized in the Belichick system. We saw James White with 8 receptions and 2 receiving TDs this week. If Dion Lewis is healthy, he’ll slide right into that production. Keep an eye on the practice reports this week, as one of these backs will face a very favorable run defense. The Steelers have allowed more fantasy points to opposing RBs this season, and made Jay Ajayi look like a stud this week. Fantasy Potential: B
RB Jay Ajayi MIA (25/204 rush 2 TDs) On the day that marked the return of Arian Foster, Jay Ajayi, who has be miserably unproductive this season, busted out for a career day. The Dolphins planned to bring Foster along slowly, but only managed to give him 5 touches, and he wasn’t particularly productive. I’m not sure what to make of this, as Foster is the more explosive back, despite the advancing age. We must also consider that the Steelers run defense has been horrific this season. If Foster is limited in any fashion this week, then Ajayi is certainly worth picking up and riding for a neutral matchup against the Bills in week 7, but don’t expect this kind of production. Fantasy Potential: C-
RB Jacquizz Rodgers TB: In Week 5 (last week), getting the start with both Doug Martin and Charles Sims injured, Rodgers carried the ball 30 times for 101 yards and caught five passes for 28 yards. He had a ton of success in the first half before being bottled up in the second as the Panthers dared Tampa Bay to take to the air. Rodgers will drop to the number two role once Martin is back, but he will retain value as the passing option because Charles Sims was placed on injured reserve earlier this week. Fantasy Potential: C-
WR Golden Tate DET (8/165 rec 1 TD 10 targets) After 5 weeks of absolutely abysmal returns, that saw Tate axed in many leagues, he finally had the type of week that many of us expected. It’s difficult to say how this plays going forward, but it’s certainly encouraging for those that have held on to him. Fantasy Potential: C+
WR Michael Thomas NOS (5/78 1 TD 5 targets) There are a lot of mouths to feed in New Orleans, but the rookie has now posted 3 consecutive quality starts in a row. Another favorable matchup in week 7, as the Chiefs have given up the 10th most fantasy points to opposing WRs. Fantasy Potential: C+
WR Robert Woods BUF (5/44 yards 1 TD 6 targets) Woods has been targeted like a top 25 receiver the last 4 weeks. This is not a prolific passing offense, so the results will be spotty on a week to week basis. Favorable matchup in week 7, as the Dolphins have allowed the 8th most fantasy points to opposing WRs. Fantasy Potential: C
WR Kenny Britt LA (7/136 rec 2 TD 8 targets) Britt had one of the best games of his career in week 6, scoring his first TDs of the season. Despite only averaging about 6 targets a game, Britt has been pretty consistent in averaging about 70 yards per game. He’s a WR4 type player, with a favorable pass defense ahead in week 7. The Giants have given up the 2nd most points to opposing WRs this season. Fantasy Potential: C
WR Kendall Wright TEN (8/133 yards 1 TD 9 targets) Wright is finally healthy and made one of the best catches of the season on his TD reception. With another favorable matchup against the Colts in week 7, he’s going to be a recommended play as a WR4/flex. Fantasy Potential: C
TE Hunter Henry SD (6/83 rec 8 targets 1TD) Henry was targeted like a top 12 TE over the last 3 weeks coming into week 6, and we can add another 8 to that total. This despite the return of Antonio Gates. Henry is just too dynamic to play behind Gates, and will continue to share the receiving load now that the Chargers are undermanned at the WR position. Still available in 51% of ESPN leagues. Fantasy Potential: B
